Weekend in Paris

Paris is the capital city of France. It is famous worldwide for being one of the most romantic cities in the world.

Paris is the capital city of France. It is famous worldwide for being one of the most romantic cities in the world. Apart from that, it is also quite well known for its fashion and luxury shops. The city is very old. Indeed, there are some traces of antique habitats in the city.  However, the city developed mostly during the Middle-Ages and later on, as the different kings of France lived there for a while before going to Versailles. This development has been possible thanks to the position of Paris. Indeed, it is located at the crossing of commercial routes that were used very often a few centuries ago.

If you are coming to Paris as a couple, there are some things to see that are really worth the trip. First, you may have seen it many times in films, but every couple that comes to Paris needs to come to the « Pont des arts ». That’s the famous bridge where couples attach a padlock to the guardrail and then throw the key in the Seine. Most couples do it in order to remain happy with each other and so that their couple lasts forever.

Then, if you don’t mind waiting a bit, you could go up the Eiffel Tower. Although many people around the world know this monument, not so many can say they went up the 3rd floor on a sunny day and enjoyed the view of the city. Therefore, if the weather is sunny and if there is less than 1 hour of wait, you can take a ticket to get on top, either with the elevator or with the stairs; this is worth everything if it’s sunny! Also, if you have decided to come to this wonderful city that is Paris, and if you have children, you could take them to the “Champ de Mars” to wait before going up the Eiffel Tower. This is probably the best way to get a tan in Paris. Indeed, the “Champ de Mars” is a really big park located just in front of the Eiffel Tower. There, you can lay down on the lawn and relax, this is really great! One more thing, if you are in Paris by July 14th, be sure to go to the “Champ de Mars” just before night, you will then be able to watch one of the most beautiful fireworks of your life!

However, if you chose to visit the capital city of France in winter and if there is snow in the city, you should head to the district of “Notre Dame”, the famous cathedral of the city. This monument is really beautiful in summer, but it’s even better in winter with some snow on it!

Visiting at least the Eiffel Tower, the Louvres and the Champs Elysées is something that every person coming to Paris should do.

Not far from the cathedral, there’s also a skating ring, so if you like ice skating you can have a lot of fun, while enjoying the view, just under the cathedral. Moreover, it’s rather cheap, so why should you deprive yourself this pleasure?

There are many other monuments to visit, like the “Champs Elysées” or “Le sacré Coeur” that are really astonishing and famous, but one can’t visit all monuments of Paris in just a few days. Even people living in Paris, for most of them, didn’t visit all monuments in the city. There is so much to do that you could spend months in the city and do something different and interesting every day.

Of course, you have to make a choice, you can’t visit everything on your first stay, and that’s probably why so many people come to Paris! However, visiting at least the Eiffel Tower, the Louvres and the Champs Elysées is something that every person coming to Paris should do. These are really classic monuments but they really are worth the trip!

One couldn’t pretend to speak about each and every monument of Paris in a single article, but you have here those that you really should visit before leaving the city.

And of course, you may want to come back in some time to visit some of the monuments you haven’t seen on your first trip!

In a word, one could say that Paris is a very rich city and that one would need months to explore all of its richness.

Have a good trip and choose carefully what monuments you would like to visit, you don’t have time to waste!
